California-based logistics company heading to Goodyear

Goodyear, the suburban city of about 80,000 people that flanks the west side of the Greater Phoenix Valley, has been attracting visitors from all over every spring to see its main attraction: spring training baseball. Now, the West Valley town has more to hang its hat on with its massive push for tech and industrial development projects.

Goodyear is touting another business development win as California-based Quetico Logistics has announced its expansion into Arizona.

Based out of Chino, California, the logistics company is planning to open a larger industrial facility on the 39-acre parcel in the West Valley suburb. The plan is to include warehousing and office space in the new development that will primarily focus on retail distribution.

Altogether, the new facility will come in around 720,000 square feet with a capital investment of more than $45 million, and will include about 300 new jobs in the new space. Opening fall 2020, Quetico Logistics鈥 Arizona facility will provide wholesale and inventory management to big-box retailers and manufacturers.

鈥淲e looked at many other markets during our search to move and expand our operations,鈥 said Tom Fenchel, CEO of Quetico Logistics, in a statement. 鈥淕oodyear just made sense. The location is near the Phoenix鈥揋oodyear Airport and major interstates with coast-to-coast connectivity. The site has Foreign Trade Zone possibilities which, combined with the competitive cost of doing business in Arizona, made our decision easy.鈥

For the town of Goodyear, this means another feather in its cap, economically speaking, and another example of how Arizona as a whole is attracting companies of all sizes and industries.

鈥淓ach company, no matter the size, brings something new that the market demands,鈥 said Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord. 鈥淭heir confidence in our city not only means more jobs for our residents and the West Valley, it also translates into additional revenue to support our schools, recreational amenities, public safety and improve our infrastructure.鈥

According to Mayor Lord, there are many benefits to having Quetico come to Goodyear. Quetico will invest over $45 million in Goodyear鈥檚 community, which will contribute to its tax base and allow the city to continue providing amenities that are important to its residents.聽

鈥淲e hope these new high-quality office and warehouse jobs will give our residents, along with our neighbors in other West Valley cities, the opportunity to work closer to home,鈥 said Lord.
